Monday’s Workout:
2-mile walk, treadmill in my VFF
I took it pretty easy Monday, opting for a walk and some extra stretching and foam-rolling in the evening. So instead of an intense workout, I went back to Whole Foods and purchased a few fun items, taking into consideration some of your suggestions as well!
I had my first kombucha. As an avid tea drinker, I had been wanting to try kombucha months and as luck would have it I never found them for sale at any stores until I went in Whole Foods. I think it was like $3.15 for one bottle so I am not going to make this a regular habit.
According to a report by the Mayo Clinic, kombucha is a fermented tea drink which allegedly also brings health benefits to it’s drinker. Despite these claims, the clinic says no scientific evidence supports them.
I would describe the taste of the kombucha like that of a Mike’s Hard Lemonade or a Seagram’s Stawberry Daquiri. The kombucha has a fizz to it and had a sweet flavor. I chose a mean green flavor hoping it would give me super powers. While the drink tasted good, I have noticed no change in my demeanor. I did, however, notice a change in my wallet. It’s much lighter after buying this drink.
Would I try kombucha again? Sure, the taste was refreshing. But for me it was not worth $3.15 per bottle. If I could find it for even $2 it would be more enticing. It would be interesting to make my own kombucha, but I’m not sure I’m quite up to that challenge yet. But if you are interested, Becca has.
Also in my Whole Foods repertoire… (clockwise: chocolate/nut bar of some kind, nutritional yeast, quinoa, millet)

I’ve never had Kombucha and don’t think I ever will. It does not sound appetizing to me at all! (plus I’m cheap – lol)
Ooh, all awesome choices! Those chocolate squares are crack. I kombucha’ed once and wasn’t a fan at all – thank God that’s at least one pricey addiction the blog world hasn’t made me develop!
Funny that you posted this today when I posted on vegan eating. The first time I mentioned vegan on Twitter, Kombucha started following me! I have a friend who loves her Kombucha, but mostly it’s for the taste. I’d like to try it sometime.
never even heard of it!
so, you definitely won’t find kombucha anywhere for $2. I should start selling mine!! Haha. Actually, you’re welcome to try some of ours, free of charge
and I have extra SCOBYs when you are ready to make your own!
I’ve never had Kombucha before, but I’d like to try it some time.
I really like Kombucha and I drink it after completing triathlon race as it helps in the assimilation of aminoacids (which means faster muscle recovery) and also prevents inflammations.
However, I always have the plain one and I sincerely cannot stand the GT’s green one (like the one you have in your picture). I found the taste pretty gross….
Last week I bought a kombucha starter kit (just few bucks) and I’m trying to make my own as the one sold in stores is way tooo expensive.
Peace

Hi Mike, thanks for your comment. Good luck on making your own kombucha!
